The Adjustment Range I Record for a Sandal Find

An adjustable sandal is only useful when the holes, hook-and-loop area or elastic section cover a believable fit range. Record the range, not the label.

“Adjustable” is one of the least useful words in a sandal row. A buckle may offer five holes but only two practical settings. A hook-and-loop strap may close securely over a very short landing area.

I record the usable adjustment range and the part of the foot it controls.

Describe the mechanism

I save hole count and spacing, hook-and-loop landing length, elastic insert position or drawcord path. Then I note whether it controls forefoot width, instep, ankle or heel hold. Those zones are not interchangeable.

The source matters. A ruler photo is stronger than “adjustable fit” in seller copy. A model photo can show placement but rarely proves the full range.

When comparing the sandal rows, I ask whether the available range addresses the actual uncertainty. An adjustable ankle strap does not solve a narrow forefoot.

In the research sheet, I end the row with one next check, such as requesting maximum strap circumference. If the mechanism cannot answer the fit concern, I stop counting it as flexibility.
